  1. How do I use the search box?

  2. The search box supports three types of searches, "Organization", "People", and "Salary". By clicking the tabs on top of the box, you can select the type of your search.

    For organization search, you can type:
    - Organization name;
    - Organization stock symbol if it has one;
    - organization name [@ city, state, country, or industry];
    - To search all organization in a city or industry, type @city name, or @industry.

    For people search, you can type:
    - Person name
    - Person name [@ organization name or stock symbol];
    - To list all employees in an organization, type @orgnaziation name, or @stock symbol.

    For salary search, you can type:
    - A position name, such as "Hardware engineer";
    - Position name [@ city, or organization];
    - To list all salary information in a city or organization, type @city name, or @organization name.

  3. When do I need a myDanwei account?

  4. myDanwei.com consists of information about millions of people, organization which you can search and read. Further more, everyone is free to edit much information about or rate a person or an organization. To search and read, you don't need an account; but to edit or rate, you need to register a myDanwei account first.

  5. How can I get a myDanwei account?

  6. myDanwei account is free to everyone. At the top right corner of each page, you can see a link of "Sign up". Click that link and go to the sign-up page. Fill in a form (Your email address and password). An email will be sent to your email account. To confirm your sign-up, you must click the link in the email. Please note that sometimes an email server may wrongly classify a valid email as spam, so you may need to check your spam folder if you cannot see the verification email in your inbox folder.

    After your account is confirmed, you can go back to myDanwei.com, sign up, and start editing!

  7. How do I edit a page?

  8. If a page is editable, you can see a label, "Edit This Page", at the top right corner. Click and it brings you to the edit page (You need to log in before edit). All editable fields are highlighted in the edit page. Click the field you want to edit, input your information, and click "Save". That's it, your information will to shared by millions of users thereafter.

  9. How do I rate a person or an organization?

  10. Everybody is welcome to rate a person or an organization at myDanwei.com. The ratings are displayed as gloden stars after people or organization names, or in the tab of "Ratings" in the person or organization detail pages. To rate it, move your mouse over the stars, drag it over to specify your rating, and left click it. Your rating will be saved in our database, feed into our algorithm, together with other users' ratings, and displayed in the website.

  11. What is a watchlist?

  12. You can add an organization or a person into your watchlist, so you will be notified by email when the page is modified. Click the "Watch this page" label at the top right corner of each page to add it into your watchlist. To stop watching the page, clicke the "stop watching this page" label at the same location.

  13. How do I add a key person into an organization?

  14. An executive or a board member is regarded as a key person of an organization. If you, in the edit page, set a person's rank accordingly, She/he will be displayed in the "Key people" section. Please note that you need to have an account to do editing.

  15. How do I cancel my myDanwei membership?

  16. To cancel your myDanwei membership, just send an email to admin@mydanwei.com with "Close Account" in the subject line. So we may authenticate you, make sure that your email request originates from your primary email address (usually the one you used to create your myDanwei account). You'll receive a cancellation notice from someone on the myDanwei Team. If you don't mind telling us, we'd love to hear why you want to leave. While myDanwei continues to evolve, your feedback makes a big difference. If there's something you found unsatisfying about myDanwei, tell us about it and we'll do our best to try to do better.

  17. Where is your data coming from?

  18. Don't be surprised if you see something here you cannot find anywhere else. Our home-grown, state-of-the-art, data mining engines tirelessly collect information far and wide, day and night, so our users can have the most comprehensive and up-to-date data available. As this site's popularity increases, more and more users are also contributing information into it. If you are concerned about any particular data, please don't hesitate to contact us.
